Depression And Cyberbullying
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
Depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, etc. are real. It's not a joke that you should make fun of. It might come to a point where suicidal thoughts linger in their minds, when they think life is no better than that. It is real, people. It is happening, right now, in some people.
I learned about depression and bipolar disorder last semester, though not really in detail like a psychiatrist nor a clinical student, but it is enough to let us know that they are real. It might be seen as ridiculous, but none of us know what these people have to go through. People look at these disorders lightly because they simply think "orang tu tak kuat iman" or "ikutkan sangat perasaan tu", and instantly label them as itu ini. Those who only give negative comments instead of the constructive ones should learn how to understand a situation before judging and condemning.
Cyberbullying makes it worse.
Yes, I agree that suicide is not the right way to solve a problem as it is a major sin, and we still have Allah to whom we shall ask for help and The Only One who can help us. Even in Al-Quran has stated..

Yes, I agree that suicide is not the right way to solve a problem as it is a major sin, and we still have Allah to whom we shall ask for help and The Only One who can help us. Even in Al-Quran has stated..
"... And whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way out for him to get out (of every difficulty)." Qur'an [65:2]
But, bashing and mocking are not the kind of advice you should give to her/him either. It's really saddening to see how people treat certain people. And this issue is quite related to what I had written previously, 'That Girl Is So Ugly!' because I bet if she were in your category of the 'Perfect Girl', she might be treated much nicely.
If you notice, this cepat-melatah kind of society and mentality nowadays is really, really fast at spreading stuff like this. Cakap sepatah salah or upload salah angle sikit (which makes the photo being looked from a different point of view), haa less than 5 minutes more than 200 people already know.
Before teasing someone who is known to have any kind of disorder or health issue, make yourself acknowledge on how serious are depression, bipolar disorder, etc. can be. Calling someone as attention seeker, drama queen or even worse, whore, is a pathetic attitude. Why be rude when you can be good?
Anyway, I'm not backing up anyone because I don't know the truth, and I'm not here to tell you who's right and who's wrong, neither do I try to point anyone as the subject of argument. It's a broad issue, not being specific to any individual. This cyberbullying issue happens worldwide. Too much negativity on social media nowadays. It becomes a medium for torturing a person's mind and 'who-get-the-most-like-win' competition. We can't just make them shut, so what's left for us to do is to leave the social media.
And for those who only know how to find others' faults and mistakes, stop doing that. If you have nothing good to say, then just keep quiet. Life is like a wheel, sometimes you're up, sometimes you're down. So, always, always and always be kind to others. Cyberbullying not only can lead to depression, but also may worsen depression, and that's not how you help those who are suffering from it. Give support and motivation, tell them that you are there if they need someone to talk to, and things like these that can help them. Not by mocking, neither by judging.
Be a kind warrior, not just a keyboard warrior.
