KonMari: Don't Judge My Room

Image
Here are some before and after photos of my room.  But before you look at them, promise me you won't judge hehe.  Assalamualaikum and hi guys! Have you heard about KonMari method? It's a method of organising things from clothes, to books, kitchen utensils and tools, miscellaneous, etc. The most important thing is to keep things that spark joy only. The KonMari was founded by Marie Kondo. I'm a HUGE fan of Tidying Up with Marie Kondo series. If you know me well, you'd know how much I love organising and tidying stuff. Nah-uh, not OCD, because I do all these willingly, and in fact, actually I'd feel a bit stressful if my things are not organised. Organising makes life easier, trust me. You organise your things, you know where you put them, you place them back after using it and you'll never have to search for them since you already know where they are. And a plus point is, your room will always look neat!  But, I've never really had a chance t...

Failure

Failure is not something one aims for. I bet no one ever wishes to fail. I set up a really high goal for myself, and when I don't manage to achieve what I've aimed, I feel like I fail. I see myself as a failure.  The thoughts of being a failure haunt me day and night, telling me I'm not good enough. Like I'd said a few times, Medic is never easy for me. When I fail to achieve something, my heart shatters. I feel discouraged and down, at the same time start to doubt myself. And knowing that I have less than one year to graduate somehow increases my anxiety.  Am I competent enough?  Can I handle everything?  But, every time I have this feeling, I would remind myself.  Failure without effort is either a real failure or a reminder. Failure after putting a lot of effort and hard work is a chance to improve and a gap to fill, in other words, to make you better in that particular area. In life, there are ups and downs, and I believe, one time you...

After 12 Years, He still Remembers Me

Image
Photo cred: bonjourvanessa.tumblr.com I couldn't believe he remembers my name. I must be a very good girl back then. Ok perasan. Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. My ayah owns a cylinder gas company. If you were at the same primary school with me, you'd probably remember some naughty students calling me "Anak gas"(???) haha.  I studied in Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Beruang, Melaka. Yes, there's a hill just behind my school, which where the 'Bukit Beruang' (Bear Hill) name came from, although no one ever saw a bear, and good to know that no one did. This school has a special place in my heart. This was where I started to love Mathematics and got involved in Maths Olympiad, and all sorts of Mathematics Competitions. A big thanks to Cikgu Norliza for guiding me in Maths Olympiad from the district level, to state, to national and lastly, to the international level in Hong Kong, which unfortunately I had to reject due to some reasons. ...

R&R Is 500m Away

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. As usual, I'm home for the weekend. I'm gonna go back to Seremban tomorrow by the way as I have classes on Monday and Tuesday next week, before I have a 5-day holiday due to Deepavali. I came home yesterday by bus, instead of driving as I still need my car on Monday and Tuesday and I was soooo lazy to drive back home. Class ended early yesterday. Sanaa sent me to Terminal 1 Bus Station around 4.50pm so I thought I still had the chance to grab 5pm-trip ticket. But it was sold out, so I needed to take the 6pm trip instead.  "1 hour to go. Where should I lepak?" I decided to spend time at Dunkin' Donuts. I bought 2 donuts and a cup of iced coffee. I shouldn't buy coffee as I'm on coffee-free diet to sort of 'detox' myself, but I did, so I just drank it anyway. 10 minutes before the bus departed, I left Dunkin' Donuts and immediately walked to Platform 35. Everyone was already in the bus...

Just A 10-Min Break

Image
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. It's almost 12am, but I'm still wide awake. Exactly 7 weeks ago, before new semester started, I thought of prioritising blog writing, but looks like it is not that easy to accommodate it into my daily (hectic) 8 to 6 schedule. After this it won't be 8 to 6 anymore. Sometimes it will be 8 to 10 during Ortho posting. And I saw one of my friends still at A&E department at 11.50pm. Don't get me wrong. Not that I'm complaining. I'm actually looking forward and can't wait for it. I have a lot of things to share with you guys (let's just pretend there are people who read my blog, shall we? Haha). There are a lot of unpublished posts in my draft. Anyway, as the title suggests, I'm just going to blurt out whatever I wanna say in 10 minutes.  Psychiatry almost comes to end and I'll be having my end of posting tomorrow. I can't wait to get through it, but at the same time I'm super duper ne...

I'm Back!

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.  Hellooooooo everyone!  Just in case if you guys have forgotten, I'm Ardilla Noorezan. Who am I? No one. So, you are not expected to know me actually haha.  What an interesting way to start a post after so long not writing one, Ardilla . . .  Yes, alhamdulillah I'm still alive, trying to survive in Med school. How was everything? Hmmm which one should I start first? Should I start with the part where I almost cried when clerking a patient? Or my car crashed into a tree? Or the part where I had trouble sleeping? Hm, which one.. haha. Okay, I'll just tell briefly about everything I can remember, alright? Grab some popcorn and keep scrolling hehe.  I already finished 7-week of Family Medicine and almost finish my 2nd 7-week-posting which is surgery. I loveeee this clinical phase because finally, I can relate the theory part and real things. This is also the phase which I learn a lot. Not just about Me...

5 Things (I Planned) To Do This Holiday

Image
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. Creds to Sobri Study and exam weeks are the best time to think about EVERYTHING and when exam ends, everything just *poof* disappears. Before I sat for my exam last week, all ideas just flowed into my mind like the stream moves downhill, but now when I have so much time to spend, I end up doing nothing. Anyway, here are the 5 things I planned to do this holiday; 1. Learn in depth about photography I've always wanted to learn more about photography, but I couldn't find any suitable time. I once thought of taking a photography course after I finish my degree, but that seems a bit impossible I guess. To be a professional photographer needs a lot of time and commitment (of course money as well because you gotta upgrade your lens as you become more pro), which I don't think I can manage it yet. For now, as long as I know how to use the camera, and not only just turn to the auto mode every single time, that's quite en...

Luckily I Ran Like Crazy

Image
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. My friends and I went to MidValley after the OSCE debriefing session last Thursday. We didn't have any specific plan; just bought some stuff for our upcoming trip and spent time together before going back to our hometown. Around 6, it was time to go back. We had to take the KTM first from Midvalley and then changed to LRT in Bandar Tasik Selatan. By the time we wanted to go to the train, many people went up from downstairs, which means they were just arriving.  We ran as fast as we could because you know how tiring it would be to wait for 40 minutes before the next train arrives. We were quite relieved when we saw a long queue waiting to board the train. The train was really packed with people coming back from work and whatnots. Though the long line could buy us some time, but the problem was.. the 3 of us + 1 cabin-sized luggage (I just bought it) were not gonna fit in there. Fatin and Sanaa were in front of me. They ran from on...

Tell Me: How Do I Look?

Image
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. Do you notice something new? Probably you do! Yup, I just changed my blog template weeee. Finally, a better one, I guess. More manageable and easy to handle. I don't have to pretend being like a pro, changing the html code here and there haha. Got a few posts in my drafts waiting to be posted, but I still don't have much time to write a proper one as I'll be sitting for my final exam next week! I'm so nervous. Wish me luck *fingers crossed*.  How do I look? I mean, how does my blog look? (Cause you prolly don't wanna give any comment to someone who has trouble in sleeping with obvious eye bags and a messed up daily routines haha). Oh, and if you click 'home' at the top bar, you can see there's a slider for a few topics! Sorry for being over-excited haha. Anyway, I would really appreciate if you guys could drop some comments and tell me your opinion on my blog's new look. Perhaps I should add anyt...

Something I Would Never Forget

Image
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. It was around 1pm. I wanted to go back home, so as usual I have to take the LRT from Sri Petaling to Terminal Bersepadu Selatan in Bandar Tasik Selatan and board on a bus from there. It was scorching hot outside although it rained cats and dogs this morning. Too lazy to walk, I decided to book a cab using the Grab app. A few minutes later, a taxi driver's photo and details showed up on my phone screen and another couple of minutes, I got a call from an Indian uncle, telling me that he had arrived. I saw the taxi turned to the other side, so I immediately called him to tell that he went to the wrong way and when he arrived, I apologised for not informing him earlier. I was a bit afraid at first, but the feeling went right away after looking at his cheerful character and kind expression. He told me that it was okay. The LRT station is just about 5 minutes away from Vista Komanwel (nampak lah malas nya tu hehe). The taxi metre sho...

Conversation Between Buses

Image
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.  Creds to Markcafiero.com I have to go back to KL today. New block starts tomorrow and though it's just an intro and briefing, I'm not gonna skip them. Furthermore, my friends are gonna start practising OSCE (1 month in BP makes me forget almost everything, but hopefully not!) and exam is really really near, so enough procrastinating.  After 1 month of driving back and forth between Batu Pahat and Melaka, finally I get back to my usual routine, taking the bus from Melaka to Bukit Jalil. Driving is fun, but it can be really tiring especially after you have had a long day in hospital. I just boarded into the bus. No one is sitting beside me, yeay! Both 2 chairs are mine hehehe. But, there's a divider between these 2 chairs, so getting both chairs doesn't mean anything. I still can't use the other one, unless if I can separate my legs from my upper abdomen and put them there hmm. The bus is fully air-condit...

Treat Chunks And Pieces As A Whole

Image
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. It's 1.30 am. I was supposed to sleep 2 hours ago, but my eyes seem to refuse, though I had already drunk a cup of milk. Blame the culprit; what else other than the late night thoughts, which lead to over thinking? Haha. I started to realise that life is made of chunks and pieces, but it should be treated as a whole. Those pieces complement one another. Instead of like jigsaw puzzle, they are more like a sphere made up of irregular torn papers, stacking and overlapping on each other. One part affects the other part either directly or indirectly, especially to us, girls. You know how girls' minds can be really complicated sometimes.  Maybe you guys are wondering, what am I talking about? What do I mean by treating life as a whole? It means.. well as for example, if you're studying and at one point your brain can't accept and absorb knowledge anymore. You try to recall what you have read, but your mind is totally b...

Raya Celebration Was Hmm . . .

Image
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. How was your Raya celebration guys? Hope everything went well! Mine? Alhamdulillah, 'twas fun! I've got to spend about a month at home. 2 weeks left before new semester starts, phew the time passes really fast whenever I'm at home and I don't think I'm the one who feels like this, am I right? Haha. Anyway, this post is gonna be a throwback post about what happened the last few days, with a combination of writing, photos and videos from snapchat and 'boomerang' apps. Before Raya, I went to Guardian to look around and have some fun trying the make up testers on the back of my hand. I ended up buying these 2 gorgeous stuff, which I never know how to use. I simply put them on my eyebrows and eyelids, blended here and there with multiple kind of shades and looked at the mirror to see the final result. Not that I used them without looking at the mirror, but it's different when you look one part of your face at...

Luqman Was Missing!

Image
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.  Meet Luqman everyone! Today is the fifth day of Raya. Not sure if it's still considered as Raya or not. But Syawal is one month, so I consider it as a yes haha. So far, Raya has been good to me. I'm quite nervous for the upcoming new semester, marking the final semester we'll be in IMU Bukit Jalil before going to IMU clinical school in Seremban (if I pass, InshaaAllah!). But, let's spend time with family to the fullest first, shall we? After this, most of the time will be spent in hospital, so I don't think I can go back every weekend. *brb crying* In a blink of an eye, day passes so fast, leaving yesterday as a memory. I ate so many ketupats and sambal bali (favourite dish cooked by nenek), and little did I realise how fast Raya Day 1 has become Day 5, phew. Nonetheless, I still can recall what happened on the first day of Raya.  Luqman is my cute-little-youngest cousin who had just turned 4 yesterday. ...

Why Waste When We Have A Solution?

Image
This post is written at 11.53pm on Friday. Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. Photo by Mr Google I should be sleeping right now as I wanna wake up early tomorrow. In fact, I'm already on the bed, getting ready to sleep, but my intention is thwarted by the sudden appearance of my blogging mood, so I better not to turn it away or by the time I try to find it back, it has already gone sebab merajuk haha.  Today is another out-of-routine day for me as I met my best friend, Ummi after a longgggggg time not seeing each other. It's longer than the word 'long' I just typed, wayyy longer than that, no kidding haha. We even didn't have the chance to celebrate each other's birthday, and I wonder when was the last time I gave Ummi a present hmmm. Anyway, time spent is what matters most, innit? Hehe.  Ummi fetched me and we straightly went to Aeon Bandaraya, spending a good few hours, chitchatting about life, study, family interspersed with silly...

Makan Dalam Talam

Image
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. I had my end of semester examination last Monday and it marked the end of Year 2, alhamdulillah! This semester is not a progression point for us, so no matter what marks we get, we will still proceed to the next semester. And yes, preclinical in IMU is 2.5 years. Hm maybe because the basic clinical stuff including physical examinations and procedures has already integrated into the curriculum. Anyway, I would try my best to update my blog every day! Can't promise though as my daily schedule might change as I have a never ending to-do-list for this (only) one month break haha.  For 3 systems (reproductive, musculoskeletal and nervous systems) that were being tested in the exam, we had to sit for ONE paper only. Can't imagine how an exam consists of everything, 9 systems altogether, which we're gonna sit in the next semester will be tested in ONE paper. Finger crossed. That evening, I crashed into Sanaa's place, spending ...

That Girl Is So Ugly!

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.  "Lelaki tu handsome tapi isteri dia tak lawa." "Mak cantik tapi anak tak handsome langsung."  What is lawa (beauty) to you?  How do you define it?  'Lawa' or beauty is a subjective thing. Everyone knows that. But we live in a society where beauty is defined as someone who has fair & flawless skin, thin model-like body, big eyes, rich etcetera etcetera, and beautiful girls always have this one kind of 'pass' that everything they say is correct. If you against them means you are against a bunch of her supporters as well. A girl was being kutuk ceca hina on her instagram because some of you think by having asymmetrical eyes and big front teeth is ugly. If she were perfectly fit in your category of a beautiful girl, upload lah selfie setiap saat pun takpe, but because she is what she is, you torture her mind by criticising her physical appearance and let unwanted harsh words flooded in her ...

Ragam Ayah Macam Macam

Image
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.  Hey guyssss! I have so many posts in the draft, but lack of time to edit and publish them. I just arrived KL from Melaka this evening, so I thought why don't I spend some time updating my blog. Anyway, final examination is just a month away! Weehooo. 2 weeks ago, while my family and I were on our way sending Ica to Melaka Sentral, where the intrastate and interstate buses are, we talked endlessly about current issues, from the news we watched on the television to things that happened in our surrounding, and notwithstanding of the different opinions that we had, we voiced them out calmly and accepted each other's view. I told them that I came across some good tips on how to control anger while scrolling the Facebook timeline and one of them is whenever you feel angry, put some water in your mouth and hold it until you have cooled down. My mother asked me why, so I told her that when someone holds the water in her/his mouth, s/...

The Other Side of KL

Image
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia, is like a heart to the body and a pacemaker to the heartbeats. The magnificent skyscrapers touching the sky, incredible architectural details portraying their own beauty, a vast, accessible transportation means making travelling so much easier and whatnots have created a significant invisible boundary between the urban lifestyle and the other side of KL. The other side of KL in this context represents a large community of citizens that most of us do not aware of, including the old me. Living in a cozy place, where we can study comfortably and sleep soundly, we are sheltered from the awfulness of reality some people are facing and struggling with. The other side of KL is often hidden during the day, and more noticeable during the night, when the moon starts its shift and the darkness takes place. While we are having dinner with our family and friends either in a house or restaurant, these p...

I Almost Died!

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. Hey guysss! Finally, I have an ample time and the mood to update this blog. Fuhh *tiup habuk* haha. To be honest, I have a few posts in the draft that I should have posted a long time ago, but then those posts are not well written with incomplete paragraphs and no-mood-to-continue writing, so I decided to discard them all, muahahaha.  We already finished our 4-week reproductive system and currently in a new system, musculoskeletal system. Apparently, there is a lot of names of bones and muscles to be remembered, not to forget the procedures and steps of physical examinations during the clinical sessions. The final semester examination is getting closer and closer. The extensive list of topics for both theories and clinical skills makes me freak out inside every time I try to remind myself about it, but chill Dylla chill, don't let the panic attack knocks the sympathetic pathway in you. 'I almost died for 2 times' seems ...
